Downloading, Saving, and Printing Your Purchase(s)
How do I get my purchased materials downloaded onto my computer?
After
you have submitted your order we will summarize it in the form
of a screen called the "Smart Receipt". From here, you will be able to
download your purchases. To make sure you download and save your
purchases directly onto your hard drive, please follow these directions:
Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7: When viewing your Smart Receipt, RIGHT-CLICK on the "Download Item Now" link. Then choose "Save Target As" (in Internet Explorer) or "Save Link As" (in Firefox and Chrome). Then you will be able to download the file directly to your computer without opening any programs. You will also be able to choose where the file is going.
Apple/Mac OS X:
When viewing your Smart Receipt in Firefox or Chrome, RIGHT-CLICK (or
Control-Click) on the "Download Item Now" link. Then choose "Save Link
As." Then you will be able to download the file directly to your
computer without opening any programs, and will be able to see where the
file is going. If you are using Safari, simply click on the link, and
the file will download automatically, usually to your desktop or your
downloads folder.
Please note that most Macs use Preview as the
default reader. In order to get the best user experience available with
PDF files, we suggest Right-Clicking (or Control-Clicking) on the file
once it is saved to your hard drive. Choose the option "Open With" and
select the most up to date version of Acrobat Reader.
I've
downloaded my eBook, but it is missing pages/requires a password/gives
me an error/isn't on my hard drive. What should I do?
Occasionally,
a "plug-in" might be in place that will open up PDF files within your
browser, which allows you to see the file without saving it.
Unfortunately, downloading files with this type of plug-in will not save
them to your hard drive. To avoid this, and to place a copy of your
purchase directly on your computer without the use of a "plug-in",
please follow the step by step instructions listed above.
Am I able to print my purchase(s)?
Yes, we encourage you to print out the activities or pages that you need, as this is one of the big advantages of eBooks.
How long do I have to complete my purchase?
You will have seven days to download your purchase, starting immediately.
If I order more than one item do I download them together or separately?
If
you order more than one item you will have to download them separately.
However, this is very simple to do because you will be downloading all
the files from the same location.
I've purchased a book that comes with a ZIP file. How do I download it?
If
you have purchased a book that comes with extra files, such as
pictures, MP3s, Powerpoint slides, or SMART Notebook files, you will see
two download links on your Smart Receipt. The first will say "Download
eBook". This is the PDF part of the product, which you can download and
open using the instructions listed at the top of the page. The second
link to a two-part product will say "Download ZIP File". Save this file
on your computer the same way you would save a PDF. However, once it's
saved, you will have to decompress it.
How do I decompress a Zipped file?
Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7:
After you have saved the Zipped file to your hard drive, simply
RIGHT-CLICK on the file, then choose "extract all". This should
decompress the folder and allow you to access all of the files.
Apple/Mac OS X: After you have saved the Zipped file to your hard drive, simply RIGHT-CLICK or Control-click on the file, then choose the "Open With" menu. From here, you can select the program you wish to use to decompress the file if you have a preference, though we prefer to use the default program "Archive Utility". This will open up a folder in the same location and will allow you to access all of the files.
I am having trouble printing my eBook. What should I do?
Please
check that you have the most up to date version of Acrobat Reader
installed on your computer. When you are sure your version of Acrobat
Reader is up to date, try downloading your purchase once more using the
steps outlined at the top of the page.
